    What is the Gartner HR trends and priorities report?

    This annual report is derived from the Gartner HR Priorities Survey, which polls chief human resources officers (CHROs) and HR leaders on common challenges and asks them to rank their top priorities for the year ahead. This report is designed to offer HR leadership teams a better understanding of emerging HR trends and insight into what their peers are focussing on in the year ahead to help drive strategy for the HR function.

    This year, Gartner received responses from more than 500 HR leaders across 40 countries and all major industries. Thirty-three per cent of participants were CHROs or heads of HR.

    • rethinking organisational culture to establish an efficient workflow fit for the new world of work;
    • investing in adopting and preparing for the impact of emerging HR technologies; and
    • rethinking external recruiting and internal career path approaches to attract and retain critical talent.

    Key changes in human resources over the years include:

    • increasingly “unsettled” employee-employer relationships due to a lack of trust;
    • persistent skills shortages;
    • rapidly emerging, transformative HR technologies; and
    • greater pressure to maintain operational efficiency despite radical changes in the way we work.
